Save The Frogs Day
Storrs, CT
Every year on the last Saturday of April, people around the world celebrate Save The Frogs Day, a global event dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of amphibians and the urgent need for conservation measures.
From 2011 to 2016, I had the pleasure of organizing the Save The Frogs Day at UConn in collaboration with the UConn Herpetological Society. Our campus became a hub of frog-focused fun and education. We set up interactive exhibits, posters, games, and displays featuring Connecticut’s local amphibians, teaching students and other community members why we should care for amphibians and what we can do to protect them.
Whether visitors were learning to identify frog calls, exploring the threats amphibians face, or discovering small actions they could take to help, the goal was the same: to inspire a sense of wonder for these often-overlooked creatures and a commitment to their conservation.
