Welcoming our newest Master's students: Sebastian and Natalia!
We’re excited to welcome two new graduate students to the Goyes Lab, starting their Master’s programs in the Fall of 2024! Sebastian Curaca and Natalia Mejia bring strong backgrounds in amphibian research and a shared passion for understanding animal behavior and bioacoustics.
Sebastian joins us from Bogotá, Colombia, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Universidad Nacional. For his undergraduate thesis, he focused on the ecology and taxonomy of poison dart frogs in the genus Hyloxalus, gaining hands-on experience with species identification and natural history in the field.
Natalia, originally from Cali, Colombia, completed her Biology degree at Universidad del Valle. Her undergraduate thesis explored the acoustic characteristics of an anuran assemblage in a dry forest of southwestern Colombia, providing valuable insights into frog communication in a biodiversity-rich and understudied ecosystem.
We’re thrilled to have these two passionate researchers join the lab, and we can’t wait to see where their projects take them. Stay tuned for updates on their work in and out of the field!
